Behind the Staircase Corner Wall – A Wallpapered Pipe

When you start to open up the walls you never know what you will find. I was curious about the corner of the wall of the staircase on the second level as it looked like something behind the wall had been covered over. I thought maybe the wall was curved like the staircase. When we opened up the wall we found that the wall was originally squared off but at some point about a 6″ pipe ran up the wall in that corner. But oh how clever they were as it was wallpapered to match the wall. Was that so maybe you wouldn’t notice the pipe? I don’t know why the pipe was installed there yet. That will reveal itself later I’m sure. I think the later solution to cover it with a panel and paint it to match the wall was much better – don’t you?

  1. Love that you love the history and not just an investment. Ken Boyd sent me the link to your blog and I have been catching up on your terrific year with your beautiful home. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
